Add/Remove Billers and Recipients

This screen allows you to add or remove billers and recipients from your Biller/Recipient List. Before payments or transfers can be made it is necessary to set up information about who the payment or transfer is to be made.

Once set up in your Biller/Recipient List, repeated payments or transfers can be made from the Pay Bills/Transfer Funds screen by simply identifying the party (usually with the last 3 digits of the account number) and entering the amount to be paid.

Add a Bill You Want to Pay

Telpay Standard Billers:These are billers that Telpay maintains and, with the exception of government payments, do not require payment details other than the account number to be credited. They include commonly paid billers such as utilities and credit cards.

Customer Specific Billers: These billers are not part of Telpay's standard list of billers. They are specific to you and must be added with their address and contact information. Payments are forwarded to these billers with the invoice details that you enter. Examples of Customer Specific Billers would be your plumber, your daycare, your dentist, etc. Before adding a biller as Customer Specific, you should first try to search for it and set it up under the Standard Billers.

To add a bill you want to pay:

  1. Begin by typing the biller name, or part of the biller name you wish to add. As you type, the biller list is searched for matches, which are displayed. You may backspace and edit your input during the selection process.
  2. Select the desired biller from the list by clicking on it with your mouse. If you cannot find the biller name you are searching for, then check the box "Biller is not on the list below" to add it as a Customer Specific Biller.
  3. Once the biller has been selected, your cursor should be automatically positioned in the Account Number box. Enter the full account number as shown on your bill in the input box provided. If you are setting up a Customer Specific Biller and don't have an account number, use at least 3 characters that will allow you to easily identify this biller when making payments. Suggestion: use the first 3 characters of biller's name.
  4. Click to complete the setup. The account you enter must satisfy the biller's specifications. If your entry does not meet the requirements, you will receive a message indicating this and will be given an opportunity to correct your entry.
  5. If you checked the Customer Specific box, you will be prompted for additional information:
    • Biller's mailing address
    • Biller's contact information
    • If you know the biller's bank account, enter it in the space provided. To assist you in correctly entering the bank account number, click and a sample cheque will appear.
    • Click to add the Customer Specific biller.

Your Biller/Recipient List

These are the names of the billers and funds transfer recipients which you have currently setup.

The designation (FT) after a name indicates that the entry is a Funds Transfer. The financial institution account number of the recipient is also displayed. A designation of (CS) after a name indicates that the entry is a Customer Specific Biller (as opposed to one from Telpay's Standard Biller List).

Account Number/Identifier

For bill payments, this column lists the full account number of the biller. If your account number changes, it's important that you set that account up as a new biller in order to insure that the correct account number is credited with your payment. When you no longer wish to make payments to a particular biller, you should delete that biller using the Delete button.

For funds transfers, this column shows the identifier used when you added the funds transfer to your Biller/Recipient List.

To remove who you pay:

Click to remove billers or transfers that you no longer require. This will remove the biller/recipient from your Biller/Recipient List. Payment history for deleted billers/recipients will continue to appear on the Payment History screen

Note: Deleting a biller or recipient will not cancel any pending or future-dated payments/transfers to that biller/recipient. If you wish to cancel a pending payment/transfer for a deleted biller/recipient, go to the Pending Payments screen.
